The MTCC, supported by responsible and reputed professionals, able to influence at their national level the appropriate institutions and bodies (lawmakers, health officials, voluntary organizations, etc.), was established in 2004 in order to implement guidelines and actions.

Representatives from Albania, Algeria, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Macedonia, Malta, Morocco, Palestine, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Syria,  Tunisia and Turkey expressed their support to the initiative,

as well as the representatives of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the International Union against Cancer (UICC).

MTCC is sponsored by the CINBO, a Consortium of 17 Italian Universities and its Mediterranean School of Oncology (MSO) and by the Institutions of the participating countries.

The Task Force is incorporated in Italy as a non profit International Association, open to the other representatives of the Mediterranean bordering countries.
